Finger Plant and Push Classical Guitar Player Exercise

The Finger Plant and Push Classical Guitar Player Exercise is a excellent exercise to warm up, loosen, and prepare the muscles in the right hand as well as solidify the movements required for the I-M-A fingers.  Perform this exercise before practice to help remind the right hand how to move before making sound.  This exercise can also be used to teach the fingers how to properly execute play.  You can download a free, printable .pdf for this exercise here: Finger-Plant-and-Push-Classical-Guitar-Right-Hand-Exercise.pdf or right click and save the image below.

Finger Plant and Push Classical Guitar Right Hand Exercise

1.

Plant the tip of the finger on the string.

Slowly push the string back towards the string behind it.

Allow the string to return to its' original position with your finger remaining in contact with the string.

Keep your wrist relaxed, but without collapsing while performing this exercise.  The thumb and other fingers should remain planted on strings that are not in use and without tension.  Repeat this exercise four or five times for each finger.
