Individual, private, classical guitar lessons are available with our Lead Instructor, John Ross. Private guitar lessons focus on teaching and improving the student's playing technique, understanding guitar tablature, learning music notation, and presenting repertoire in solo public performance.
Individual classical guitar lesson plans are customized to assist the student in achieving their personal goals.
Approach To Teaching
The Ross School of Classical Guitar's approach to individual lessons is to create and implement a lesson plan customized to the student's goals using traditional, proven methods that are internationally accepted. Performance and advancement through the lesson plan is measured to ensure progress is made and identifiable.
The First Lesson
The first lesson begins with the instructor assessing some or all of the following: student's personality, learning style, technical needs, level of knowledge in musical notation and guitar tablature, public performance history, and equipment currently in use. At the end of the first lesson, students will be given initial exercises to practice, a list of equipment and/or books they may need to purchase, an overview of the first month's learning plan, clear directives, and a practice plan. At the end of each following lesson, students will be provided a homework list, practice plan, and any related, supplemental materials or items to purchase.
Acceptance
Students from beginner to advanced are accepted for private, classical guitar lessons. We accept students as young as 9 years of age (as long as they are able to read the necessary material or have a committed adult who can read the material to them.) One parent or guardian is required to attend and remain present during all lessons for students under 17 years of age. Parental participation and supervision during lessons and home practice sessions are required for students under 13 years of age.

Scheduling
Lesson time varies depending upon the student's needs and may last anywhere from one half hour to two hours. Time slots are limited. Please be aware that there may be a waiting list.
Once accepted to the school, individual lessons are scheduled on a month by month basis. Tuition is determined by how many lessons are taken during that month and are paid in advance.
Lesson Costs
Lessons are available for the following schedule:
1 - lesson of up to 90 minutes per month $85.00
2 - 30 minute up to 60 minute lessons per month $150.00
4 - 30 minute up to 60 minute lessons per month $260.00
Lesson tuition is due at the beginning of the month, before the beginning of the first lesson for that period. Tuition may be paid by cash, credit, or debit in person at the school or through PayPal online.
