Back Twisters Guitar Player Back Stretch Exercise

The Back Twisters Guitar Player Back Stretch is a great exercise to warm up, loosen, stretch and prepare the muscles in the in the back, along the spine.  Perform this exercise before practice to help reduce strain and pain in the back.  Move slowly and with purpose to ensure a good stretch and reduce the risk of injury.  You can download a free, printable .pdf for this exercise here: Back-Twisters-Guitar-Player-Stretches.pdf or right click and save the image below.

Guitar Player Back Twisters Stretch Exercise

1.

Sit facing forward with your hands on your lap.  Your feet should be shoulder width apart and your back straight.

Grab your right thigh with your left hand.  Raise your right hand up above your head.  Pull with your left hand and look over your right shoulder.  Allow your body to twist at your waist.

Return to your original position and relax.

Grab your left thigh with your right hand.  Raise your left hand up above your head.  Pull with your right hand and look over your right shoulder.  Allow your body to twist at your waist.

Return to your original position and relax.  Repeat this exercise for each side four more times for a total of five twisters per side.
