Shoulder Shrugs Guitar Player Back and Shoulders Stretch Exercise

The Shoulder Shrugs Guitar Player Back and Shoulder Stretch is a great exercise to warm up, loosen, stretch and prepare the muscles in the in the upper back, neck, and shoulders.  Perform this exercise before practice to help reduce strain and pain in the back and shoulders.  Move slowly and with purpose to ensure a good stretch and reduce the risk of injury.  You can download a free, printable .pdf for this exercise here: Shoulder-Shrugs-Guitar-Player-Warm-Up-Exercise.pdf or right click and save the image below.

Shoulder Shrugs Guitar Player Back Stretch Exercise

1.

In a seated position, drop your arms down to your sides.  Press down with your shoulders and extend the neck and chin up.  Hold this position for a count of four.

Bring your shoulders up into a shrug while dropping your chin down to your chest.  Press up with your shoulders.  Hold this position for a count of four.

3.  Repeat this exercise four more times for a total of five shrugs.
