Hands In The Air Guitar Player Shoulder Stretch Exercise

The Hands In The Air Guitar Player Shoulder Stretch is a great exercise to warm up, loosen, stretch and prepare the muscles in the shoulders and upper back.  It also stretches the muscles in the upper back while warming up and loosening the shoulder joint.  Perform this exercise before practice to help reduce strain and pain in the shoulders and upper back.  Move slowly to ensure a good stretch and reduce the risk of injury.  You can download a free, printable .pdf for this exercise here: Hands-In-The-Air-Guitar-Player-Shoulder-Exercise.pdf or right click and save the image below.

1.

From a seated position, slowly raise your hands while keeping your arms straight.

Click on the image to view larger.
Bring your hands up over your head.

Reach and stretch with your arms above your head.  Then begin to slowly lower them back down.

Keep your arms straight as you lower them down to your sides.

5.

Relax your arms.  Then repeat this exercise for a total of five times.
